Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site
Well it is back to the grindstone for me tomorrow. My vacation has been incredibly nice, incredibly theraputic, and I think I am going to make this week a permanent week of my vacation rotation every year.
I wanted to let you know what I did for the rest of my vacation time since I have not posted since last Wednesday, I believe. I don't recall doing anything "too" exciting on Thursday. Hylari never cleaned her room up so that did not get painted. Whenever she does clean it up I will be ready with paint can in hand ready to go. Friday we went on a field trip to Indigo Wild. (www.indigowild.com) Indigo Wild is a company in KC that makes soap and other skin products by using only natural ingredients. I had happened upon the company a few months ago when searching for some natural soap products. Who would have "thunk it" I had a company in my own back yard. The company is only open from 10-5 so it has been hard to try to get there over the past few months. I am so glad we took the journey to find it this past Friday. First off the people that work there are incredibly nice. The owner of the company wants her employees to like where they work so as an added benefit she allows her employees to bring their dogs to work with them, as long as they are the type of dog that gets along with other dogs. So as you walk into the store you are greeted by 5-10 happy dogs. As you walk around you see more dogs just wondering around the place. We even saw a cute little white dog all curled up in its bed on its owners desk. Neat idea! The store smell is a little overwhelming because they manufacturer and run their operations from the same site. The smell is not like a Bath and Body store. The smell is really kind of offensive but after you try one of their products you see why they do what they do. I purchased some bath soap (Rosemary) and I cannot begin to tell you how good my skin feels. I noticed a difference even after my first use. Although I have never been into Bath and Body soap I do know that once you shower with it the "smell" of the soap is gone a few hours after your shower. Now while Indigo Wild soap does not leave a smell behind your skin will feel incredibly silky...even up until it is time to take your next shower 24 hours later! It is awesome stuff. I also bought some face soap and a face scrub and my face skin feels so soft and smooth after using it. Anyway, if you like natural soap products I highly recommend Indigo Wild. I will never buy soap from anywhere else again.
Friday evening we did a little shopping and ran some errands. While we were out I decided to pick up some of the new mineral make up that is the big hype right now. I also like it alot too. I bought all 4 steps from the L'Oreal line and am happy with the results. I was a little recluctant since it is kind of expensive but so far it has been well worth the money spent on it.
On Saturday evening we went to my friend Christine's house to play games. Christine's sister RaeAnn and my sister and her family came as well. Christine, RaeAnn, my sister and I all all grew up together since we lived across the street from each other. Our parents both still live across the street from each other and remain close today as do the four of us girls. We had a great time play games, ate some incredible munchy food and had lots of laughs.
Today we had the day off from work for President's Day. My hubby and I lounged around dredding to have to go back to work tomorrow. Hylari was with her dad and went to her 6 month dental check up (still not a single cavity) and yearly eye doctor appt. Her dad had called me a few weeks back and asked if I minded if he check into getting Hylari contacts since she has been doing so well in school. I agreed. So Hyl got her first set of contacts today. She can only wear them a few hours a day for the next few days before wearing them all day long. I am going to make her a hair appt for Thursday night so by the end of the week she will be a new woman.
Being the parents of 4 children we can never go too long without any drama. That drama came in the form of a phone call from Mike today. Apparently something has gone down at his mom's house and Mike called asking for our blessing to allow him to move in with his girlfriends grandparents. Who did he think we was calling? There was NO WAY we were going to tell him we were ok with that. Of course then he gives us the "you don't care about me" and "as soon as I graduate I am going to move far, far away" lines. My husband ended the call with Mike telling him to have his mom call him as soon as he and her got done talking. That was around 5:00PM. It is now 9:00PM and we have not heard from her and my husband said he is waiting for her to call him. It all stresses me out. It also makes me very mad that his girlfriends grandparents told Mike it was ok for him to live at their house. Ahhhh....no! That is NOT an option. It is all incredible frustrating!
The past few days Jaxon will have a good day followed by a bad day. Yesterday was a real good day for him and today has been a bad day. He is still on the ventilator in which they were hoping that would be gone tomorrow or the next day. Right now they do not know when it will be taken away. The liver continues to do well, which is good. However, his lungs are now very sick and that is holding things up. His white blood cells are noticing that the liver is not Jaxon's and the doctor says that is a good thing as well. Please continue to pray!
