Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site
Hello!
Friday evening we went out for pizza. AJ had a table full of preteens checking him out. I think he was embarassed that they were doing it in front of his parents! Hylari and Brock were having fun razzing AJ about it.
Saturday morning AJ's basketball team had to play the really good team that they played before and ended up loosing by 20 points. This time they only lost by 6!!! Our boys played so good and gave this really good team a run for their money. Even though they lost the boys were proud of how well they played and how tight the score was. At half time the score was 4 to 6 and and one point they were only down by 1 point. Way to go!!! I guess the game was too early in the morning (9:30) for AJ's mom to have to get up out of bed because she didn't even bother showing up.
Saturday afternoon we helped Brock finish his Science project. It is really good. We then had him present it to the family a few times so that he would do a good job when he does his in class presentation on Wednesday. I was impressed how well Brock gets up and speaks in front of people, even if it is just our family. As he read his paper he went over to his poster and pointed out the different planets he was speaking about at the time. I hope his teacher gives him a good grade. My husband and I do not care for her very much. When we went up and met with Brock's teachers at the beginning of the school year his Science teacher didn't say a word and even ended up leaving the meeting early. I have found there are teachers who care and want to help those that lag behind in class and then there are those that would rather not deal with those types of students. This teacher would much rather not have to deal with it. The good thing is Brock really likes Science and he tends to have his highest grade in Science each school year. My husband is going to take the project to school tonight after work so that it gets there in one piece. We talked to Brock several times about my husband doing this. Then this morning my husband and I both get a phone call from Brock wanting to know about his project. Since I knew Brock was completely aware that his Dad was taking the project to school this afternoon, the only thing that I can come up with is his mother got up this morning and saw the note in Brock's planner that my husband signed stating the project was done. She was probably wondering the whereabouts of it so that she could take the credit for assisting Brock with it. Not happening chicky! I did take some pictures of Brock with his project and as soon as I quit being lazy I will get them and others downloaded and posted to my blog.
On Sunday my mom and I traded bakers racks. We thought hers was a little bigger than mine and I needed a bigger one and she needed a smaller one. As it turns out I believe they are the same size. I like the beige colors of hers better than the green marbled one I had. The only problem I am having right now is Koko's bone jar is so tall I have to move it in and out in order to get her a bone out. I may have to find something a little smaller.
We received Hylari's new Case It binder in the mail on Saturday. We had to go out and buy some folders for it last night so that she could organize all her class work inside. It turns out the first bunch we bought were too big so I had to go out and get some different ones. It is still hard to get everything in the binder and get it zipped up. The teachers expect the students to have everything with them when they come to class; however, they are not allowed to bring backpacks to class so they have to try to cram everything into their binders. Sad as what our world has come to I understand teachers not wanting the students to bring backpacks to class. I even feel like that is a safety measure for my own kids but there has to be some give somewhere. I have purchased 8 binders so far this school year because my daughter is expected to carry way too much in her binder!!! The binders can only take so much. And the teachers will only let them go to their lockers 3 times a day including when they get to school and before going home. The only other time they get to go is the class before lunch in case they need to get their lunch out of their locker. So these poor kids are stuck with carrying everything with them all day long and the only place to put anything is inside a piddly binder!
Well I best be off to work. I am not in the two week period of my boss being off on vacation so it is basically just me holding down the fort.
Have a great day!
