Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site
THANK YOU for all the Merry Christmas wishes. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We had a very nice Christmas. We all received nice gifts and had WAY too much good food. I was going to wait for the pictures until the end but I am too excited so I will post them now.
Here is AJ with his Guitar Hero

Brock with his Nintendo DS. Notice his messy morning hair and his shirt on inside out. I typically make the boys wear a shirt but I see Mike and AJ got by me a few times this weekend.

Hylari with her new stereo

A picture of Mike in his new Hollister shirt.

Hyllie with her new laptop which was a gift from her dad.

Here is my dad with his GPS system we got him. We all gave him gag gifts and then wrapped a huge box with little boxes inside. When he got down to the last box it was the GPS system that he was dying to get.

My sisters dog, Norman, Oklahoma (yes, they are big OU fans) sleeping in the middle of us opening gifts.

Some of the yummy treats my sister and her girls made for us.

And the Monkey Bread I made for Christmas morning.

Hylari all dolled up for Christmas

So as you can see we had a great time but all good things must come to an end. I have already taken down my indoor Christmas decor including the tree. I am not sure when I will get to the outdoor decor as it keeps snowing!!!!! We have received an ice or snow storm every weekend this entire month! It is supposed to snow for the second time this week tomorrow. Uuuuugh! If the weather is warm enough I may go ahead and take down my outdoor decor and then lay it out in the garage to dry out.
Last Saturday my husband and I went to see Juno and I Am Legend. I LOVED Juno. Very cute movie. Lots of slapstick humor. I did NOT like I am Legend at all but don't let that steer you from going to see it. It is just not my kind of movie. I was bored and even fell asleep a few times.
AJ and Hylari both turn 13 this year. AJ in March and Hyl in July. I am trying to think of some big to do's for their birthdays. One idea I am checking on right now is seeing about renting a limo on the evening of their birthdays and be driven in it to go eat dinner. If anyone has any great 13th birthday ideas PLEASE send them my way!!!! It would be "muchly" appreciated!
I can't think of much else. We are hearing that we have another snow storm moving in this evening. I have used up all my vacation days so I will have to come into work regardless. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are making it seem. The last two have not been no way near what the weather guys were predicting.
Have a great day!
I enjoyed looking at your pics my dear. Your family got lots of very very nice gifts! You have some good looking boys, esp. Mike. It made me laugh to see the inside out shirt. he he. Thats like a kid to wake up & rush out. The monkey bread looks yummy!!! I've never heard of that. My daughter Aly just went to a her classmates 13th birthday party last month. It was held from 7pm-11:30pm and the theme was "Club 13". It took me a while to allow Aly to go because Im use to daytime parties and to me, 11:30pm is too late for a 12 year old. I ended up picking her and her friends up at 10pm. Anyway, the parents sent out badges w/the invites that said "club 13" and the name of the birthday boy. Youre supposed to wear it otherwise you cant get entrance. they had the kids line up outside along a red carpet from the sidewalk to their walkway. They had lights and glitter outside. The kids stood in line waiting for the birthday kid to show up in a BMW and then up the red carpet. The birthday boy took a picture with each guest and their favors were a frame with the picture (the parents printed out) and a T-shirt that said "club 13" with the kids name on it. The dad gets a good discount on shirts. Some kids won hats that said club 13 and some other momentos. The inside was set up like a club; dark and lights and music and lots of finger foods. Purple lights, blinking lights, disco balls, etc. It was really like a club. Aly said he had an okay time, mostly because she didnt know how to dance the "latest" dances. Anyway, that gives you an idea of a 13th birthday party we went to.
