Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site

Well the ice storm came on Monday night as predicted. I ended up calling in to work for Tuesday. All the schools were closed and many business and churches closed as well. Although we received a fair amount of ice the roads did not end up being too bad off on Tuesday because the temperature was up to about 35 degrees. We are actually in worse shape today (Wednesday) because it is colder than Tuesday. The majority of the schools are in session today. Here are some pictures:
This is a view of the utility lines outside in my backyard.

Another angle including one of the trees in my backyard. We ended up loosing two small branches off of this tree.

This is in my front yard. Although the ice makes for a disruption in everyday life it is certainly very pretty.
This picture does not capture the beauty of what I could see with my eyes. These are trees in my neighbors yard that lives behind me.

This angle is looking down at the ground. It was 2 inches of snow with ice on top of it. Yesterday you could walk on it but today it is nothing less than a sheet of ice. My dog was running all over the backyard yesterday and this morning it took all her power just to stay upright on it.

Here is the dog out in the snow which was a couple days before the ice hit.

Here she is in mid flight run

No elements are on their way in the near future so that is good. There were several people in the metro area that lost power. Luckily we did not. There were still close to 20,000 residence without power last night. I felt so bad for this couple that was on the news last night. They have quadruplet babies (18 months old) are without power. They have the babies all bundled up in several layers of clothes. If it were me I would have gone to a hotel, I think.
I had an eye doctor appointment scheduled for late Tuesday afternoon. Since I was off work and the roads weren't bad I called up to see if they could get me in earlier and of course they were able to due to all the cancellations. So, I got my yearly eye exam and ordered new everday glasses and a pair of sunglasses. They should be in before Friday.
Hylari and I purchased Meet the Robinson's on payperview yesterday. It was cute. Then we spent most of the afternoon and evening working on a state project that she has due in Social Studies. Hylari got assigned the state of Oregon in which she spelled it OregAn all over her final draft so I had her redo the whole thing. She was not upset about it and actually added a lot more information. I think she will get a good grade on it.
I can't think of much else to say today. I have a few other pictures to post since I FINALLY dowloaded what was on my camera. Enjoy!
Here is a picture from Mike's quarter finals game. I can't tell where he is on the field. His team are the ones with the white jersey's on. The field they played on was soooooooo nice.

This is my felt gingerbread house that I made BEFORE I sewed it together. I WON'T be showing the final product because it looks horrible.

Hylari's bedroom tends to get cold so she has been sleeping in the boys room for the past few nights while they are not at our house. They have bunkbeds and Hyalri made a "Hammock tent" to sleep in.

Here the dog joined Hylari. If you notice the shredded red sleeping blanket that was done personally by our four legged friend while we were eating our Thanksgiving dinner. I guess she was mad that she didn't get a place setting at the table to eat turkey. Luckily Hyl is getting a new sleeping bag for Christmas.

Even though she is rotten we love her to pieces.

Here is our tree for this year. We purchased a real big Christmas tree a few years ago and then bought a sectional couch. Since our house is so small we could fit the both of them in the living room. We had to go buy a smaller tree and we have to take off one part of the sectional in order to accommodate the tree. So here is the 2007 tree with the COLORED lights.

Have a great day!
