Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site
Is it really Monday already?
On Saturday morning we left the house around 11:15AM and besides stopping for lunch and going by the house at dinner time (where I made dinner, we ate, cleaned up and then headed back out again) we didn't get home from Christmas shopping until 12:15AM!!! I am approximately 90% done so it was a success. I even had thoughts on Sunday of wrapping but decided to wait for now.
I am also happy with the amount of cleaning I got done. I cleaned from floor to ceiling in the entry way, kitchen and upstairs bathroom. I am about 85% done with the living room. I need to do some rearranging in there in order to accomodate the Christmas tree. I will be putting the kiddos on cleaning duty of their rooms this weekend. So we should be in pretty good shape by next Wednesday when I drag out all the decorations and the tree.
I do have to mention a funny story from when we were out shoppping. It actually all began when we were at home while I was cooking dinner. Since I was in such a Christmas mood I wanted to listen to Christmas carols. Since I became the "super organizer" last year I had packed up all my Christmas CD's in Christmas tubs which are not easily accessible. I signed onto the internet and started looking for a Christmas CD that I would like to have. I LOVE Christmas carols ....I probably have more Christmas CD's than I do normal CD's. I finally decided upon LeAnn Rimes "What A Wonderful World" Christmas CD. So when hubby and I were at Walmart later that evening (not to mention for the 3rd time in one day!) I went into the music department to look for the CD and could not find it. Then right outside of the music department was a display of Christmas music so I went through each and every CD and still no luck. I then went over to the area where they sell Christmas candy and found another display only to come up empty handed again. I was feeling down on my luck and really wanted the CD that night (yes I can be impatient) so I decided I would go look near the Christmas trees to see if there were CD's over there and if not I would drive to another Walmart since by this time it was getting late and most stores were closed. I found a display of Christmas music near the Christmas trees that had 10 bins of Christmas CD's. My husband started going through them with me and finally when we got through the 8th bin he told me that I was not going to find it. Being as determined as I was I wasn't going to give up. The last two bins were near the ground so I got down and started going through those bins. As luck would have it I FINALLY found one in the 9th bin!!! I praised God for having the CD there for me!
I also want to recommend a good Yankee candle if you are looking for one this holiday season. It is called Holiday Home Sweet Home....not to be confused with Home Sweet Home. It is a green candle. I love it! It has scents of pine, vanilla and spice in it. It is a real lite scent - nothing overpowering. I put it in the entry way so that the aroma will filter up through the living room. Then I bought a small Glade candle called Glistening Snow for the kitchen. The two compliment each other so well and makes my home smell very Chistmassy.
On Friday evening we watched Mike's game from Wednesday evening on TV. The game got selected as the game of the week so it was televised on TV. It was really neat to watch him play on TV. It was even more exciting to hear his name called out when he did something really good. There were also several times where the camera would zoom in on him after a play and the announcers would talk about him all the while as he was walking back to the line for the next play. My husband and I were so giddy. We DVR'd it so that we can watch it over and over...which reminds me I need to lock it so that no one accidentally deletes it. Tonight is the quaterfinals game. Rain had been in the forecast for this evening up until this morning. We woke up to it being 68 degrees outside and no rain! Talk about weird weather. Hopefully it will hold out and tonight will be bearable. Wish us luck!
Have a great day!
