It's all about voting and organ donating!

  • Mood:
  • Pray for: Jaxon, Tyler, families, doctors, and the donor family
  • Days until vacation: 4

What an UNbeautiful day it is out today.  It is pouring down rain and around 7pm tonight it will turn to snow and ice.  And this coming the day after we had a 60 degree day.  Gotta love the flip flopping in the midwest!

Updates first on Tyler and Jaxon.  The liver that one of the boys was going to get was coming from St. Louis, MO which is about 4 hours away from KC.  There were some bumps in the road in getting the liver to KC so the operation time kept being pushed back.  They wouldn't have known which boy was going to get the liver until near surgery time.  Jaxon would be tested first.  The doctors needed to make sure that there was no cancer in his lymph nodes before taking Jaxon into surgery.  They would have to do a biopsy a few hours before the surgery in order to clear him.  Once they got the call that the liver was on its way Jaxon was taken in for the biopsy and cleared for surgery around 6AM this morning.  So both families had been at the hospital since 10AM on Monday and found out at 6AM on Tuesday which boy was getting the liver.  It has been a long emotional night for both families.  They both updated on their sites that they were praying for each other.  In the end while Tyler's family was disappointed he did not get the liver they knew Jaxon was the one who was in the dire "need" of getting the liver.  They trust in God that Tyler's perfect liver will come along.  Jaxon went through several hours of surgery prep this morning and the surgery was to start around 8AM.  The surgery will last 8+ hours today.  Please pray for Jaxon, his family, the doctors, Tyler, Tyler's family and the donor family.  Also, if you are not currently an organ donor I invite you to strongly consider being one. God doesn't need your organs in Heaven, He just needs you to find salvation while on this earth.  If you would like to read more about organ donating or to sign up you can find that information through this link. http://www.organdonor.gov/

The nominatting committee met last night in order to put names on the ballot for next years PTSA board.  We were able to fill them all, except for the President.  Uuuuuuugh!  All 5 of us were on our cell phones all night long asking individuals if they would like to be president and so far no luck.  I will present our nomination report tonight at our meeting and ask for nominations from the floor for President.  My name is on the ballot for 2nd VP Memberships.  I would consider being President if I didn't work.  I do not think I would have the time this year to be President.  I also do not feel comfortable since I have not held a VP position yet.  There is a strong possibility that I would put my name in for President for the 09-10 school year.

Speaking of President......I walked through puddles this morning carrying my umbrella with it lightening out in order to go vote this morning for the primary election.  I am excited to see the results although I have heard it may be a few days before we know.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention that while I was at my PTA meeting last night Mike and his girlfriend stopped by our house.  Mike apologized to his dad for not showing up on Sunday.  He said it was because it had been sleeting out.  Now true enough it did sleet but it did not effect the roads at all.  I am the biggest baby when it comes to ice, sleet, or snow and I didn't think twice about driving when we went to lunch on Sunday.  My husband explained to Mike that what he should have did was at least CALL us to let us know he wasn't coming.  My husband told him about how we sat around for 2 hours waiting on him.  My husband couldn't go into too much with Mike since his girlfriend was there so we still plan on taking some time to sit down and talk to him about what his plans are.  My husband did bring up college and Mike says he still wants to go.  Our fear is how is he going to do if he is doing this bad in high school.  He currently has 1 F, 2 D's, 2 C's and 2 A's.  The A's are in Weight Training and Family Relations.  Of course he has an A in Weight Training...he is a football player.  And I am not surprised he has an A in Family Relations as well.  I know the boy was raised right and has a huge database to pull from when it comes to family relations by what he has lived.....it is all just a matter of APPLYING it.

Tonight I have our PTA board meeting.  The school is only about 5 minutes away from our house but I dread coming home since the snow and ice should start just as our meeting does.  By the time the meeting gets over it could be extremely yucky out.

Have a great day!  Don't forget to go vote and if you are interested...sign up to be an organ donor!
