Hello, I am Sami and welcome to my blog. For a few weeks now, I have been feeling some really big "growth spurts" inside of me. I am 30 something wife, mom/stepmom who has always put her children first. As of this year one of our sons will become an adult, two of our children will become teens and one will become a preteen. While I will continue to make my children a priority I must put my husband and our marriage first. I will also focus on bringing the woman within me out. I look forward to this new chapter in my life in order to watch our children grow into responsible adults, to love and cherish my husband and to be the beautiful, confident woman God created. Please join me in my journey and always feel free to comment, offer advise, or just say hello!
Hi Sami .. good to be back from Africa and love your site
It was so hard to get out of bed this morning. For one, my husband has a vacation day today and tomorrow so it was hard to get up instead of snuggling. Then at 5:00AM we received an automated phone call that Hylari's school was cancelled for the day do to the SNOW we got overnight; therefore I was going to be the only one having to get up early and venture out. I considered taking a vacation day myself but didn't want to burn a day so early in the year. Besides it was only snow, not ice, and I am more confident about driving in the winter weather now that I have a SUV. So I got up about an hour earlier than I normally do so that I could hit the grocery store before going into work. We didn't think it was going to be bad enough for Hylari's school to be cancelled so we were not prepared for her to be home for the day. So I went to get things like toliet paper, milk, soup, donuts, and even picked the dog up a few treats. The snow didn't come until early morning so the road crews really didn't have the roads cleared off very well. I think that is why they cancelled school. I didn't have any problems getting into work; however, I brought all the side roads in and never went over 25 mph - and still got to work about 5 minutes early! Everyone at work has been giving me a hard time because normally if it snows even an inch I usually call in. We got 3 inches last night and bright and cheery me is at work!
I am totally stoked because late yesterday I received an email from my high school reunion committee about our 20 year reunion. I have not gone to any of my reunions so far but I AM going to the one coming up this summer. The email requested us to get in contact with as many people as we can in order to get them registered on the reunion website. For those that are not familiar with classreport.org you should go check it out. It is a FREE website unlike the many others that you have to pay a yearly fee in order to see information about your classmates. The website is www.classreport.org. Classreport is really cool. You can access all the information for free as well as add a slide show. I registered on classreport about a year ago and have had fun emailing with some of my old classmates. Since this email has came out we have had many people start filling their information in and adding pictures. It is way cool! It is wild how some people have not changed at all while others look totally different. I know this is going to sound mean but this one gal, who I was actually good friends with, registered her profile and added some pictures, that totally freaked me out. I know she has had a hard life because she started having children in high school but I was floored to see how old she looked! If I didn't know any better I would guess her age at 58 and she is only 37!!!! So needless to say I am getting back on my diet and exercise program because I don't want people commenting about me like that. I would rather shock the heck out of them in a positive way!
We worked on Brock's project last night which is about the Solar System. He did a really good job about pulling the important information from the papers that we printed off for him. He did loose focus from time to time but that is expected from someone with ADHD. I think when we work on it again I will have him work for about 10-15 minutes and then have him take a 10 minute break and then start again. We still have next Wednesday night and then the following weekend to work on it before it is due so he will be in good shape. He was trying my patience at one point with the planet Uranus. He kept asking "Why would they name a planet that name?" and "Does it fart?" I knew where he was going with it and I wasn't going to go down that road. Boys are soooo different than girls. In this situation if it was Hylari she would be more focused on how she could write the name Uranus out pretty with a big curly U where Brock was focused on this word really sounds like something else and I think that is incredibly funny. Another difference I find with our kids is when we go over their planners with them. They all carry planners and write down what they did for the day in each class and what homework was assigned. The boys are straight to the point....we watched a movie and did a worksheet. They can tell about their day in about 5 minutes, which is good. Hylari on the other hand........sit down and grab a cup of coffee, perhaps even a snack because she is not only going to share what the assignment was for each class but she is going to tell you what her friends were wearing, and what each child said in the class, and how Suzy had new shoes on, and Billy went home sick, etc.! It takes about 20 minutes for her to tell about her day. Uuuugh! It gets exhausting sometimes!
I think that is all from me today, folks!
Have a great day!
